We all have our go-to’s in life. Sometimes it helps when others have done the leg-work for us so we can see what they’ve been through before. On my Recommendations page, it’s meant to help you with ideas and reduce your stress level if it’s something you’re looking for where I’ve already done some background for you. Now, while you don’t know me personally, and cannot attest to my character, I do want to assure you that anything I recommend is something that I have tried personally, and done my research on. I trust using these products on myself or my child – both of us with bad allergies and skin sensitivities, and use the websites for references.
Please always do your own research, as what works for one person, doesn’t necessarily mean it will always work for another person. Also, there are a few links that may take you to one of my sites where I receive a small commission if you do decide to purchase something. Again, these products are things that I have tried myself, or I would not be recommending them, and I stand behind them, or I would not have become an advocate for them.
Lots of women enjoy makeup. Lots of women have allergies. Lots of women get skin irritation from their makeup. Sound familiar? This was me. I had tried makeup, but it always felt too heavy, or irritated my skin, or didn’t look right, or didn’t stay all day. One of my best friends, who is the bad influence that got me started on this blog, turned me towards Crunchi. It was developed by two moms who wanted safe alternatives to makeup. Makeup that was TOXIN-FREE, hydrating, long lasting, and just absolutely FABULOUS! I tried this stuff and haven’t looked back. Did you know that some makeups have gluten in them? Huh, total shock for me too. They proudly and TRANSPARENTLY show their ingredients and badges that are awarded to each and every item. They want you to know what is going on your skin and into your body!
How many of us try and stay healthy, but spend buku bucks at some health food store buying up Vitamin B, Vitamin C, B Complex, Multivitamin, Potassium, and any other ingredient you are told your body needs, you end up with 20 bottles on your counter, and taking so many pills per day just to stay health? Ok, I did that too, but then got annoyed and quit taking them. I was introduced to Uforia, a company that is a DNA based nutrition. Sounds weird, right? Ok, so here’s the thing. You swab your cheek, send in your DNA (Never used for anything other than this), and they will give you an idea what your body needs based on your DNA. Then, they use 100 all natural, plant based ingredients and give your body back what it needs. It comes in 1 container, and it’s either 5 vegan capsules twice a day, or a powder. That’s it! This has helped with my sleep, not bruising as easily, acheyness is recuded, inflamation reduced, helped with my monthly lady troubles, stronger nails, more energy. It’s been great because my body is getting what in need and not all that extra crap found in OTC vitamins that have fillers and other extras!
This has to be one of the best and worst things I’ve ever found. I put this app on my phone and started checking all the things in my house. Think Dirty rates things from a 0-10 scale, 0 being great, GREEN and non-toxic. 10 of course, being OHMYGOSHGETTHATAWAYFROMME!!! Like I said, it was eye opening and terrifying at the same time. I found out my regular shampoo/conditioner was an 8, my hand soaps were an 8, but thank goodness, my body soap was a 3. I could take that. It also made me realize that the things I was exposing my daughter to were so harmful, and I didn’t even know it. Things listed as “Natural” really weren’t. There were hidden chemicals in it that I had no idea about. Talk about wasting money and giving the garbage man a big haul soon after. I redid our shower/bath items, hand soaps, lotions, and anything I knew would be coming directly in contact with our skin. I’m working on anything that is aerosol based next, like perfumes, air fresheners, car fresheners, etc. Soon, I’ll be moving over to laundry and the like. As I said, best and worst thing to ever find is this app…but in the end I’m glad I found it!
Crunchi uses the EWG quite a bit. Here’s the fun part. The great U.S of A has almost zip-zero-zilch in the way of makeup policies/procedures/laws. There are about 30 ingredients that are banned in the USA compared to the European Union that bans over 1300. That’s quite the difference. That’s a lot of shit that is allowed in our stuff here in the states that in Europe would be banned and not allowed to touch anyone. Not fair, not cool. Anyway, The EWG makes sure to give you ingredients to avoid, helps provide transparency of ingredients, and helps keep people informed on what is and isn’t as they try and create a healthier, toxin-free lifestyle. Like Think Dirty, there is both the website, and app to use.
